Description: This course offers a focused exploration of prompting and iteration strategies for generative AI chatbots like Microsoft Copilot. Participants will be expected to engage in hands-on interaction with the Microsoft Copilot chatbot to begin generating practical outputs for personal and professional use cases. 

This course is an elective that counts toward receiving a digital badge for the AI Literacy Education Program.   

Objectives: In this course, you will learn to:  

• Summarize what generative AI is, how it works, and how it differs from other AI types 
• Describe accuracy and ethical considerations associated with generative AI 
• Identify task-related opportunities with generative AI

Join us for a 60-minute hands-on workshop covering the essentials of generative AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot, including how to effectively and responsibly use them, and identify and discuss the best applications for your academic and administrative needs. 

Through the use of slides, demonstration, and hands-on practice, participants will:

• Gain a basic understanding of GenAI Chatbots and foundations for writing prompts
• Learn about considerations for using GenAI tools, such as biases, misinformation, and privacy.
• Know how to access and submit prompts into the Copilot GenAI.
• Leave with hands-on experience, AT resources, and enough knowledge to begin using Copilot on their own.

Open to both beginners and advanced users, this event is a great opportunity to elevate your GenAI skills in a supportive environment. 

Through the use of slides, demonstration, and hands-on practice, participants will:

• Gain a baseline understanding of GenAI, types of GenAI (chatbots, assistants, media generators). and considerations for using them.
• Learn about use cases across multiple AI applications and best practices for utilizing these tools.
• Learn how to access and utilize SF State supported GenAI tools (Zoom and Adobe) in real-life and day-to-day application.
• Leave with knowledge of access, use, and understanding that will allow them to be able to explore genAI on their own.
