Overview

Hear from higher education leaders on AI’s impact, the trends they’re observing, and the strategic decisions guiding their institutions in 2025 and beyond.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping higher education at a rapid pace—but where are we headed? This session will take a forward-looking approach, exploring the larger impact of AI on teaching, learning, and institutional strategy. Panelists will examine potential futures, emerging trends, and the evolving role of human expertise in an AI-driven world. What’s on the horizon for colleges and universities in 2025 and beyond? Join us for a discussion that goes beyond current policies to consider what could happen and how institutions can prepare for the future.

Panelists include:

  • Bryan Alexander, Senior Scholar in the Learning Design and Technology Program, Georgetown University
  • José Bowen, Senior Fellow,  AAC&U
  • Megan Mittelstadt, Assistant Vice President for Learning Initiatives and Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning, University of Georgia
  • Michelle Singh, Assistant Commissioner, Digital Learning Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board
  • C. Edward Watson, Vice President for Digital Innovation, AAC&U
  • Moderator: Hannah Schneider, Director of Digital Education Programs, AAC&U

Sponsored by AAC&U’s 2025–26 Institute on AI, Pedagogy, and the Curriculum, this webinar is part of “AI Week,” a series of expert-led webinars designed to explore AI’s impact on higher education and equip institutions with strategies for integrating AI into teaching, learning, and institutional planning. Registration is free and open to all.
