Overview

The annual Responsible Innovation & Entrepreneurship Conference is hosted by the Lam Family College of Business (LFCoB) at San Francisco State University. It is designed to engage the I&E research community in thoughtful discussions on the latest developments in this field, workshops to support research paper development, and research ideation sessions.

The Lam-Larsen Fund for Global Innovation funds this conference.

Theme: Responsible AI and Digital Ethics: Methods and Measures to Anticipate and Mitigate Harms

The 2nd Annual RI&E Conference (April 19th and 20th, 2024) includes the following highlights:

  • Opening remarks by Eugene Sivadas, PhD (Dean of Lam Family College of Business, San Francisco State University). 
  • Keynote by Riitta Katila, PhD (Professor of Management Science, Faculty Director of the Stanford Technology Ventures Programs, Stanford University).
  • Fireside chat with Rachel Gillum Jackson, PhD (Vice President of Ethical & Inclusive Product of Salesforce) and Ian Sinapuelas (Professor of Marketing at SFSU). 
  • Panel discussions with experts in the RI&E area: Jon Zieger (Founding Executive Director of Responsible Innovation Labs), Chris Mcclean (Global lead for digital ethics at Avanade), Meagan Mitchell (Head of People and Operation, New_Public), Andrew Roderick (Assistant Vice President for Academic Technology at SFSU), and Nasser Shahrasbi (Associate Professor of Information Systems at SFSU),
  • Fireside chat with Miles Brundage (Head of Policy Research, OpenAi), and Smita Trivedi (Associate Professor of Business and Society/Sustainable Business at SFSU).
  • Symposium research presentations by Stefan Hoffman, Kiel Institute for Responsible Innovation, Chia-huei Wu, Kings College of London, Susanne Liebermann, FH Westküste University of Applied Sciences, Denise Kleinrichert, SFSU, RI&E Research Grant Awardees Lihua WangYiwen Chen, and Sungha Jang at SFSU and more. 
  • One full day of paper development workshops with the editors of the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal (A ABDC, 4 ABS Journal). SEJ Co-Editors Dr. Yong LiDavid Sirmon, and Associate Editor Dr. Riitta Katila will join us.
  • Opportunities for attendees to exchange ideas and expertise with peers and RI&E Leadership, Chenwei Li, Ian Sinapuelas, and Minu Kumar.
